I like Doritos. Nacho cheese Doritos. I can't help it. I know they aren't good for me, but they taste so delicious and cheesy! And I have always been a sucker for what I affectionately call "the crunch." I like to have something crunchy with just about every meal. It triggers my brain to feel like the meal is complete. And I'm that girl that puts potato chips (or aforementioned Doritos!) in her sandwich (on the rare occasion I actually have a sandwich with meat). I wouldn't say I'm a Doritoholic or anything; I've been known to go many months without having Doritos. But when I do indulge... I just really like Doritos.
Just thought you should know.

Speaking of which
I got a crystal paperweight and a letter from the CEO of my bank thanking me for working here for 3 years! Who knew!
Do you ever wonder if there is a team of 8 people (or 16 people so that they can take vacations) whose job it is to record the call letter jingles for radio stations around the country? I mean, those people all sound the same station to station, right? They come into work every day and sing the same things over and over with different words. I don't know if I really want that job or if it would drive me crazy... if it is a real job.
Happy first day of spring! I am planning on going home today and spending some time outside in the sunshine with my dog, Jasp, the BDE (Best dog ever). I have to watch him carefully, though, because the other day he got a tick! Which not only grosses me out but is not a good thing to get! I'm so glad Adam was home to get rid of it for me. Poor little Jasp!

Almost...
I have been working for my company for almost three years now. I was just realizing (re-realizing, really, I have thought this before) that I never thought I'd work at a bank, and that when I did, it would be the closest thing to a career that I'd have, thus far. I have had three positions in those three years... I had my first position (teller) for 11 months, my second position (service banker/universal banker) for one year and 9 months, and my newest position for two-and-a-half months to date (73 days, to be exact). I can see myself staying in this new one for a while.
I was going to go on and on about that, but I'll just stop there for now. Still really enjoying my new job, by the way!
Also, Rowan had to stay in the hospital for a week for an antibiotic treatment, but he is going home today! Yay!!!
Sorry that was kind of a boring post (except for Rowan). I even kept the most boring part out of it! But at least now you know a little bit more of my work history, right? :)

Quinoa!
So I made quinoa last night. Just in case my readers don't know what that is, it is pronounced keen-wah and it is a grain that you cook similarly to rice. (That is an awkward phrase... I'm not sure if I used "similarly" correctly; please forgive my error if it is one! I think you get my drift, regardless.) It has a good amount of protein, considering the fact that it's a grain, and it has a bunch of vitamins and minerals, which is an extra bonus. I was not sure if I would like it, but I was willing to give it a fair shot. I browned it in butter, and then cooked it with vegetable broth, and it was great! Adam loved it! So I definitely think this will be added to our general repertoire of foods :) If you haven't tried it, you should. I approve.

Auntie Megan!!
You read that right - my nephew, the adorable, wonderful, precious and perfect Rowan Paul was born yesterday, March 5, at 8:10pm!! From the pictures I've seen, I can definitely see the resemblence to my brother :)
I can't wait to meet him! But unfortunately, I do have to wait until about the 24th... pretty soon, though, he is going to meet his favorite auntie! :)
I love you already, Rowan!!

So glad
You hear people say, especially in movies or on TV, but also in real life, that they can't imagine spending their whole life with one person. I think those people are CRAZY. There is no way I would want to keep looking for the next person to spend a few years with, starting the whole process over and over again. Having to get used to a new person, and have them learn all of your quirks and annoying things over and over again. Ugh, just thinking about it makes me feel nauseated. I'm just so glad that I found the person I get to spend the rest of my life with. Not only am I excited because I found the right person, it's just a relief to not have to worry about all that junk any more.
I have been going to a kickboxing fitness class. It is really kicking my butt (pun slightly intended)! But I like it because I can really tell I am getting a workout. I am hoping to eventually get a six-pack. Or maybe a two- or four- pack, depending. But anyway... I went last night and man, am I sore! Just sitting here typing, my back is achy. I don't like being sore, but I like that I'm at least sore for a good reason.
Ok, that's it for now. I hope you can all survive until the next installment, whenever that may be!

Habits
When I wash my hands at work, I tend to "wring" out my hands before I dry them to save on paper towel usage. I started doing this intentionally, even though I'm not sure if it really helps me use fewer paper towels. Anyway, I didn't realize it was now a habit until Adam caught me wringing my hands out at home. He looked at me kinda funny and said, "What are you doing??" I looked at my hands, and started laughing as I told him.
Isn't that interesting that some things become habits without our even meaning them to, and how some other things, even if you really want to do them, are so hard to remember to do regularly? Example - medicine that you take every day. I still had to put a reminder in my phone or else I'd forget to take it. Yet I wring my hands out at home without even thinking!
That's it for today... Happy Valentine's Day!

50th post!
I decided to wait until I’d been on the new job for a month before writing about it. No, that’s not really true, I have just been either too cold or too busy (or both) to just sit down and write about my life when I get home from work every day. I still talk about my life plenty, but writing about it is another matter. But I haven’t forgotten about you! About four times the past week or so, I start thinking to myself “ooh that would be a good blog starter.” And then I just never put it down on paper. Or computer screen. So I’ll just splat everything I can think of here in case it takes me another month to post!
1. This is my first post since last year when I was 25!
2. Why do French fries taste so good?
3. I eat my M&Ms by color when they are in a bowl. If I eat them straight from the bag I don’t really care. Of course, the color order is logical (to me), but for any illogical readers, I will list it here for you: brown, yellow, green, orange, red, blue. If you try it, you will see that after eating all the brown ones, the yellow ones stick out the most – naturally, they are the next to go. And so on, and so forth. Occasionally there is some variation on the order for the last three, but typically I go with the order stated above.
4. I also stir with a purpose. When I am trying to mix something (e.g. my oatmeal in the morning, or leftovers I am reheating in the microwave), I always try to stir so that the bottom middle is now on the outside top, and vice versa. I think this is the best way to disperse ingredients or heat evenly… but I also realize that most people probably just stick the spoon in and stir! I have tried not to care, but now that I have become accustomed to the evenness and equality of and within my food, I don’t know if I’ll ever really be able to “just stir.”
5. New job is great! There is definitely a lot to learn, but I think I’m doing well. The first couple of weeks I was just writing copious notes (I have about 9 pages of typed notes) and basically letting things go in one ear and out the other. I know that sounds kind of bad, but there was so much, it would have been way too crazy to try to absorb and understand it all the first couple of weeks, hence the copious note-taking. But after the first few weeks, things started to click, and I started remembering things (as opposed to having to always reference my notes, which I still do, of course). They said in my interview it will easily take a year before I’m really comfortable in the position and know most things, because some things only come up once or twice a year, and there’s just a lot to learn. BUT my trainer (who has been doing my job for umpteen years… -side note: umpteen did not get spellchecked! Who knew that was a Word-approved word??-) felt comfortable enough to leave me by myself for a day ALREADY (one month to the day of starting the position) and a couple of days ago when my desk was covered in papers, she came up to me and said, “You’re doing a good job.” Thanks! Also, about two weeks in, one of my interviewers (the one I was less sure about before, I think I referred to this person as Interviewer A) came down and was asking how I was doing, and I said “there’s a lot to learn” and she said, “You’ll get it sooner or later” and my trainer said, “I think it’ll be sooner. And that’s a statement of faith for me – I wouldn’t usually say that.” So that was also nice :) I am definitely glad I made the change.
6. We have been watching Lost. Before I started watching this with Adam I had never seen any episodes and didn’t know anything about it. But I like it! It is kind of frustrating because sometimes they do the stupidest things… and are you seriously going to tell me that they would just “give up” looking for the pregnant lady??? Of all the people on that island, the pregnant lady (Claire) and the little boy are the two that any sane, real, not-on-TV people would not just stop looking for. And since she came back and didn’t have any memory, I said to Adam, “Is that because the writers couldn’t think of what happened to her and why she was gone for so long, so they just decided to have her lose her memory?” And he said, “Probably.” No, we’re not cynical at all. :) I do like it, though. Adam only had the first two seasons, but we’ll probably buy at least a couple more. If they get too crazy, I won’t buy them all, but I’m willing to try another season or two.
Also, I'm sick. I miss breathing through my nose, and my toungue feels weird because I keep breathing through my mouth. And most things taste kind of funny. I had Adam try my orange juice last night to make sure it was good - I didn't want to be drinking expired orange juice on top of having a cold!
Ok, that's it for now. I'm sure I missed some things, but hopefully now I will get better about actually posting. Hope everyone had wonderful Christmases and New Year's and Groundhog's Days!!

Holidays
Well, here comes Christmas, and there goes my blog! I haven't meant to ignore you for almost a month... sorry!!
So today, December 22, 2011, is a very special day for at least a couple of reasons...
One year ago today, we got JASPER, the best dog ever! I can't remember what life was like before we got him, and now I can't imagine life without him! :-)
One week from today, I will turn 26 years old! The other day (a couple weeks ago, I think), I was looking at myself in the mirror as I got ready for bed, and I couldn't remember how old I was! I think I've been anticipating my birthday and turning 26, so I couldn't remember if I was already 26 or if I was only 25. That has never really happened to me before!! It was kind of weird.
Anyway... here's another quirk to get you through till my next post (potentially next year, at the rate I'm going!) Because my birthday is at the end of the year, I always like to make a list of things I haven't done "since last year when I was (25, 24, etc)." It can include anything, such as hula hooping, eaten chocolate, or shopping. One time, I was at my mom's for New Year's Eve, and she asked me to run to the grocery store for her, and I said, "I'd rather not," (which I never say), because I hadn't been since before my birthday, and I wanted to be able to say I hadn't been to the grocery store since last year when I was 22 (or whatever age it was). It was too funny, and of course my mom played along with me and didn't have me go! :-) Adam pretends not to like it but really I know he loves it. And it's kind of my thing, so he's stuck with it, since he's stuck with me! :-) Gosh, I love my husband!
Well, in case I don't see you, Merry Christmas and have a great and safe New Year!

Good-bye November...
Hello December, California, Christmas, and my birthday! (and yes, in that order!)
I don't have a lot to update about, I just wanted to say I hadn't forgotten you! They sent out an email about my new position on Monday, so a lot of people have been calling and emailing to tell me congratulations. Apparently this was a highly-sought-after position, so I'm sure not everyone is overjoyed that I got it. Oh well now! And if we end up having kids within the next couple of years, they wouldn't have to wait too long before they could apply for it again! So anyway.
It was about 20 degrees outside when I woke up this morning. And we only keep the house around 50 at night, so it was quite chilly at 7 AM! Here comes winter... wake me when it's over!
